
David served in the US Army National Guard from 2004 to 2012 as an Infantry Officer. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 as a member of a development team. He medically retired after having a below the knee amputation because of an IED blast in Afghanistan, July 2010. David retired as a Captain after 8 years of service receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Combat Action badge among other awards.
Following his retirement, he returned to College Station, TX to be a stay at home dad and husband, helping to raise his 3 children, Daniel 13, Morgan 11, and Matthew 6. He stays active and is a positive role model for living an active healthy life for his family. He has also focused on giving back to the veteran community through volunteering his time with programs that focus on getting veterans outside and active in nature. David guides back packing expeditions with No Barriers Warriors and is a Regional Coordinator for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.
