
Born 19 September 1980 in Goldsboro, NC. Joined the United States Army in April 2001, as a Military Police Officer. I attended One Station of Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where I learned basic soldier skills and the duties of an MP. Upon graduation of that course, I attended US Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia. I learned how to properly jump from an airplane at approximately 1200 feet and graduated from that school on 9 Sept 2001. I was then assigned to HHC 8th MP BDE in Yongsan, Korea for 12 months. While there, I served as a Customs and Black Marketing Agent. Once, leaving Korea I was assigned to the Ft. Myer MP Company in Washington D.C for 3 and a half years, where I served in the OLD GUARD. Protecting all Foreign Diplomat’s and High Ranking US Military Officials, to include the President of the United States. In October 2006, I went to Lackland AFB to attend the Military Working Dog Handlers course. I spent 3 months there learning how to care, maintain, train and work a military dog for detection and protection. Once graduation from that school I went back to Korea for another 12 months as a Dog Handler. I then was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC as a team leader in the 108th MP CO.
I deployed with my company in May 2007 to Iraq. When I first arrived, we were doing security in the Northern part of Iraq for 3 months. We later moved into Northern Baghdad, Sadr City, to help train the Iraqi Police force. On 26 December 2007, while leaving our Combat Out Base (COB), my vehicle was struck by 3 Explosive Formed Penetrators (EFP). I was severely injured and lost my left leg from the knee down. I was immediately air lifted out of country back to the USA. I spent 2 and a half years recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital in Washington D.C. I returned back to Active Duty status at Fort Bragg in July 2010 as a Military Working Dog Handler. I am currently working as the 16th Military Police Brigade, Military Working Dog Program Manager. My Military Awards include- Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal (6), Army Achievement Medal (3), Army Good Conduct Medal (5), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (w/campaign star), Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Combat Action Badge and Parachutist Badge.
